Not a dig but an interesting observation. When Hong Kong was taken by the British there was resentment from the residents. When Hong Kong was going back to China they wanted to stay under Britain's control.
Remember the "Chinese political exile" Miles Guo in the US? He was just a criminal charged with fraud in China. For years the west acted he was a political exile, now he is facing jailtime in the US for fraud also. Laughable
We in Britain owe many of our former colonial subjects a small debt of gratitude. Being unable to safely house them or their descendants when in real trouble is a great shame on us.

China uses those kind of places as a police outpost and to ensure China citizens can be followed and impressed in many ways.
