2:19 the water above the funnel itself is really only pushing down on the funnel, not the displacement piston at the bottom. If you weighed the containers AND the water, the funnel would weigh more because then it takes into account the water pushing down elsewhere.

Years ago when I worked in the industrial water field, this concept was drilled into our heads. It's faster to fill a tank by connecting a hose to the bottom vs. connecting the house to the top of the tank.

Intuitively, some people thought that the bottom was shower because you had to push the water in the whole tank up. But it was actually slower to push the water in the house all the way up the whole time.

In the last setup, the upward force on the container and thus the clamp stand is what we normally would call buoyancy. The container is trying to float above the water, so it becomes lighter.
