Measles is back in the headlines, and the scary part isn't just the rash. It's the two-hour airspace rule. It's the fever that can spike above 104. And it's the fact that a person can spread it before
I get really angry when I meet an anti-vax parent who then proudly informs me that their kids got through childhood healthy because they didn't get them vaccinated.
Thank you, Mike, for this video. When I attended public school, one's vaccination booklet (yeah, I'm a dinosaur) was required to be presented each year at the time of enrollment. No up-to-date vaccination booklet, no school until you presented one.

I know a man who is now in his late 60s. He got measles back in 1962 before the vaccine was developed. He developed encephalitis and subsequent brain damage. He has spent the last 64 years of his life with the intellect and thought process if a 6 year old.
My mother caught measles in her early 30s. She had severe symptoms but avoided pneumonia fortunately. I had the vaccination and booster but just in case I had another booster a few months ago. I Never was diagnosed with autism and none of my elementary school classmates even though had to be vaccinated to attend school.
When I was little, back in the 50's, we had measles parties. When one child got measles, or chicken pox, parents got all children together so they would all "get it" and therefore, be over it!
I was born before the MMR vaccine. We were considered at the time partially immune and no one around had the measles. We were lucky. But I did get the Mumps and was isolated at home. Only my mum was allowed near me. That was a tough one to heal from. But I didn’t die and precautions were taken. In this day and age I find it ludicrous that children aren’t vaccinated. I’m a nurse and found sometimes people don’t make sense!!
I highly recommend people reading the book "Pandemics and Viruses without all the scary nonsense" by C Louis Charles PhD. It does a really good job at explaining how different viruses work by looking at primarily at Ebola, Flu, Covid 19 and HIV. It does mention Measles as well but as part of talking about how R factors are calculated.
Where I live, children cannot be enrolled in school, preschool or daycare without a certificate of vaccination. For me it was a non-issue because I’m not a selfish idiot who assumes that google knows more than my doctor
