Star alliance, sky team and one world. Almost all major airlines in the world are members of one. This is at the heart of these cartels.
@
Delta used to fly JFK to BRU, the only connection from Brussels to New York that isn't star alliance. They use AMS and CDG as a hub, and killed that route in January.

10 years ago I could fly the atlantic for £450, baggage included. Now its £1200 without baggage. This isn't a peak month.

Having just watched the American Airlines is losing money video, it all makes sense now how they’re seemingly not as concerned as they probably should be

Funny how their argument about how they will be more competitive, is just the description of how they will compete less…

This channel alone inspired me to do my dissertation around the effects of the pandemic on private airline economics. It was 2020 and there was no academic literature yet. Amazing choice
@
Delta's argument was basically "they got to be anticompetitive first, so it's not fair not to let us do it too."
@
…and that’s why Jet Lag hasn’t played a game in which the players fly back and forth across the Atlantic.

RIP Norwegian, flew them several times from NYC to Europe before they exited the US market.

the norwegian era was a great time to live in london as an american needing frequent low cost transatlantic flights 18:36

Well, y'all know the drill - if it doesn't have planes, it ain't a Wendover video.

I was confused that EWR was mentioned in the first few minutes without it being insulted a half dozen times before realizing this isn't the HAI channel.

brussles, lh, swiss, ita, discover, and austrian are literally all owned by lufthansa so its really only lh and united

Immediately I was like "Ah right, the Star Alliance"

I hate them so much.

The missing element in the "why are the regulators allowing this?" question is Regulatory Capture. A huge effort has been put into lobbying the regulators, funding the politicians that appoint them, creating a revolving door between the regulators and the corporation, and "promoting" interpretations of the law that are friendly to monopolists.

So which one of them got annoyed enough by all the star alliance signs on their way home from the last jetlag season to write this video?
@
Honestly, when I read this title I was sure it was about actual drug cartels selling drugs from the US to the EU.

I see Sam is upset that he has to increase the budget for Jet Lag
