Every non-oil economy should be hyper focused on renewables. Even if they cut single digit percentages of demand - it's helpful. These sorts of shocks show the value of self reliance. It's not politics or feelings - pure economics.
You forgot to mention that different crude need different refineries. There’s so much different type of quality’s of crude and different countries can only refine the crude that their plants are build for.

Surprising lack of mention of the strikes on oil/gas production and refinery sites on both sides of the Gulf. Those will have a long lasting effect until those sites are up and working years from now.
