With the Semifinals in the books, the Final of the 2026 World Cup is finally set after a month of some of the most exciting games in the history of the tournament. Unfortunately for Thomas Tuchel's En
Did Norway cry like this when they lost to England in the quarter-final? Now this happened to England. That's all. After the first half, Argentina played great football. That was the reason for England's defeat.
England were gassed at the 63rd minute, and by the 67th minute, they were dying inside their box. Thomas Tuchel was on the sideline telling them to press; they weren't doing that, so he added a defender in the 72nd minute and again in the 82nd minute.
Can any pundit explain why the English players after they scored the goal 55th minute till the first substitution happened at 71st minute . They were still playing a 4-4-2 /4-3-2-1. In those 16 min they weren't able to move the ball forward from their own half into Argentina half. The question I have to me it seems they either didn't believe their own skills or they didn't have the technical skills to do so. The manager changes tactic watching balls being delivered from the right side . I don't think the manager is the only one to blame for this, the lads have to take some blame for it as well.
Its evident that Tuchel backed himself into a corner with his squad selection. Djed Spence did enough to justify his selection but taking injury prone players like Livarmento has to be questioned, why take a risk bringing three strikers when its obvious Kane is going to play every game and almost every minute of every game? Rashford showed at United he can play as a CF and flourish, Bellingham showed at Real Madrid he can play as a false nine and flourish so was it necessary to take Toney?
Kobbie Manioo getting zero minutes when he's shown he can play at this level in the past.
Then there's Jordan Henderson who was basically brought along to just be a toy a man's plaything to interact with the players, vibe with them and make them feel good. If Tuchel understood he was unlikely to get minutes why waste a slot on him and instead just give him a minor staff/coaching role?
Leaving so many technical players at home was kinda criminal and called out.
Wow!!! One of the best panels I've seen on football shows, and a great moderator. I want more from these guys. Everything they say is meaningful and interesting.
Now I'm no technician but if you remember after the Gordon goal england pressed high with beli and Kane and there was a through ball for Simione in that same sequence which If not for djed could've been a goal now idk but that maybe cautioned the English defence and maybe just maybe they had to sit this through if not be brave.
It was not the fault of the manager. He just worked what he had. It was like a champion driver racing Mr Bean's mini car in Formula one. There's no way he's gonna pop the champaign at the winner's podium.
Well, who can confirm what the coach said exactly during the hudration break? Assuming he said to retreat is just unfair. IMO Argentina was like a tidal wave after England goal. Messi awakened and led his team.
England has a structural problem. Since their victory in the 1966 World Cup, it has been the same story and outcome. Different coaches, different players, the same results.
