Only we in England could be so hard on ourselves after losing a World Cup semi final to the reigning champions. Yes errors were made galore but just getting to the semifinals at ALL. Loads of other teams in this World Cup could only dream of getting this far. I dread to think what the response would have been if for example England had been eliminated in the group matches.

Respect to all the England squad they gave their all we were defeated again by a negative decision from our manager following in southgates footsteps he bottled it when will we learn we can't defend against world class teams when in a winning position most of our former attacking manager's would of at least got us to the final with that team Bobby Robson final 2026 Terry venables final 2026 ron Greenwood final 2026 Glen hoddle and if Eddie howe was in charge I feel we would of made the final if we continue to go from attacking to defending from winning positions we will never win anything I am proud of all of our players and feel this was just another lost opportunity to reach a final of tje world Cup wasted because our manager didn't have the bottle to finish them off
6 minutes away from the world cup final .then the Italian job ending happened . parking the bus watching the gold slip away it was like watching the film . Itself so painful but England can get the 3rd place to have there best finish in 60 years and build from this to win the European championship for the first time in 2 years

Not playing like we did up until being 1 goal up is tragic and incredibly telling. At this level, the difference in skill/quality is negligible. What decides World Cups and a win at this stage, is psychology. Argentina played with the mentality of defending champions attempting to hold on to their crown. England played like a run of the mill 4th/5th ranked team trying to live up to expectations. Like a very good side trying to justify its ranking. That’s the difference. The manager’s biggest job isn’t tactical anymore- it’s breaking England out of that psychological ceiling and self fulfilling prophecy we’re stuck under. Technique and tactics only get you so far. At this level, mentality is what wins it. Being 1 - 1 and allowing Argentina to continue pressing high and going for their second goal completely disproportionate to the effort we were putting in given the even standing, is inexcusable and a god awful monumental issue. Thats what the coach should be looking at fixing
Argentina played England off the park. It could have been 8. Argentina scored 2, another 2 hit the post, a couple of shots went wide, and Pickford saved England on at least a couple of occasions - while apart from the England's goal, they hardly had a shot on target. No. England came to this game with a Falklands mindset, while Argentina came to play football. England were totally outclassed,, and rest assured, France will take them apart.
Stones faking a head injury while in a collision with pickford clearly shows no contact and this geezer has the audacity to accuse others of dark arts.😂

Typical. We manage to get a lead, give them a glimmer of hope, and then proceed to collapse in the most predictable way possible. Does anyone actually believe we’ve learned anything since the last time we played them, or is "heartbreak" just our official national strategy now? Typical ITV coverage, too—making a tragedy out of a game of football.

Absolutely gutting to watch. I can't believe we let it slip after Gordon's opener. For those of us still learning the game, how does the refereeing actually work in these high-pressure moments? It felt like so many calls went against us. Tough one to take.
