Hi Hank! I discovered SciShow and then crash course in 2014 when I was stranded at home with PPD. Last year I underwent a huge career change (aircraft technician to counsellor) and watching crash course psychology helped me retain and engage with the information so much in my first year at university. I finally (at the tender young age of 40) got to see firsthand what good you do!
My mom told me her class was shown this awful AI video with incorrect numerals after 9 or so and incorrect amounts of things being counted and she felt so bad for the kids she was substituting that they are being neglected in this way and having bad quality media used in their education

As one of the kids in the audience last night, thank you for coming to speak! It’s really disheartening to see the kinds of people who usually get platformed on this campus so hearing you speak so genuinely about managing growth while maintaining quality and values was very refreshing. Hey Hank, I just wanted to say I saw you talk at Stanford last night and it was absolutely wonderful. People are saying you’re the best speaker we’ve had, and I loved every second of it. I watch all your videos and grew up on crash course so it was a dream come true! (And I’m sure it won’t effect my finals scores 🙏)
Thank you, Hank. I am an AP Lang teacher trying to teach my students to “think more complexly.” They are astonished by how many subjects I know something about and asking how to diversify their internal knowledge bank. I told them, when I was your age in high school, I was watching every single crash course class as they were released! Since the day crash course dropped! And several kids started choosing courses to watch of their own free will 😭😭😭

My wife started working as a school librarian last year. I bought her a $100 coin as that covers all the kids at her school. I don’t usually watch crash course videos any more but I believe in what you are putting out into the world

You correctly challenged my assumption that Crash Course and AI Tutors had the same exact playing field – I underestimated the entertainment/connection value of Crash Course. When you helped me pass AP Chem, I was watching your videos not for pure efficient answers but because they also helped me want to keep studying. I didn’t want to keep reading problems or textbooks; I wanted support, entertainment, and also something to make the subject interesting.
The double-edged-sword of AI tutors is you (hopefully) get the answer that you’re looking for and nothing else. This is enormously more efficient, but you also miss out on all of the surrounding details, references, and fun facts that give a holistic and enga
