The great thing about these World Scientific Festival videos is that even though Prof Greene has really very technical discussions with extremely eminent guests, during the interviews he periodically steps back and gives a quick little summary or explanation for the benefit of the viewers of what was just said and boy did we need it in this one! But sadly in this video he wasn't really able to do that due to her constant interruptions/confirmations. So I for one really really struggled to follow what the hell that was all about and I have a PhD in supergravity! I still couldn't figure out if her theory of massive gravity was purely classical or whether she had quantised it or what. It sounded like the theory was so complex that there is no chance of finding analytic solutions so you simply have to solve the equations numerically in any situation and it's still early days with lots more work to do but some promising features. I am going to have re-watch this about 5 times to even get a vague gist of what she and her team had achieved. Claudia is obviously a very intelligent lady but I struggle to follow her explanations when she's on these types of programs. I wish Brian had reigned

Don't know how to answer this one, but was really good listen for the science enthusiast.

I am listening to the argument that gravity must be quantum because it communicates with electrons and so on which are quantum. However, I don't understand this. Electrons move in space-time and space time is warped by matter according to the GR equations. In Newtonian gravity there is a force between particles on a flat "stage", but GR doesn't work that way. It simply distorts the stage on which electrons and other particles move. If space-time is bent, I don't see why it as to obey quantum rules, and I have never anywhere seen this question addressed.

YouTube knew exactly what I needed today.

So much knowledge and powerful intellect in that room. Thank you for bringing these ideas and concepts and delivering them in a way that we can understand them.

In the end, one thing is clear: "We're not quite there yet"

Another mind blowing discussion! Brian Greene is a real teacher: a truly generous master who wants to share his art and knowledge. That is why he is a great science communicator and interviewer

The problem with "upgrading" Einstein is that every time someone asks this question he's proven correct again.

Drink every time he says Einstein, I need more booze 😂

Brian, This lady is so smart she knows the the answer to your question before you even finish it.

Thank you for interviewing Claudia de Rham.
@
Yes, that's right that's Right

Whoever edits these videos deserves a raise.

"tha's right, tha's right, tha's right"

Brian: "So..."
Claudia: "That's right, that's right, that's right."

It is the asymmetry (infetnisimal) that creates interesting things ie time and motion.
@
Re. mass: gravitons interact or affect differently mass (eg hydrogen atom) and non-mass (eg photon), but a graviton has no mass as 'classically' defined.

Physics + Claudia De Rham = ❤

Brilliant! Almost ready for take-off with Claudia de Rham at the controls, it's always a pleasure to hear what she has to say, thank you Brian and fasten your seatbelts everyone, we're about to leave an inertial reference frame behind. This is going to be an exceptional flight. 🌈😌

That's right.
