They say America is Energy self-sufficient however, two things make me wonder. First the US imports about 8 million barrels of oil per day from other countries. Secondly, the US oil majors are joint venture partners with all of the gulf oil companies. Sure, doesn't seem like the USA is energy independent
The SnP is close to all time highs because of all the stocks in it that traders don’t find exciting. Hundreds of them that slowly grind up on workmanlike returns and passive flows/value investors driving them up. If the market corrects (-10 to -30) the SnP/Dow will be the last to fall because of all those unsexy stocks that will be drug down by the ai/semi/mag7 slide.
Knowing what’s “below the surface” kept me short delta (and losing money) for years! Took a long time to accept the fact that markets don’t function in ‘reality’ and are perpetually optimistic! Put a poster on my wall over my desk, “DO YOU WANT TO BE RIGHT, OR MAKE MONEY!?”… then reprogrammed my systems with different weightings.
Here in Australia, inflation is through the roof and house prices are lowering and companies are laying people off but fuel prices are low. None of it makes any sense.
Higher interest rates do not cause prices to fall It just slows down inflation prices overall are higher. It only causes the economy to go into recession.
