We've optimized everything: our calendars, our workouts, even our sleep. But somehow, friendship, the thing that actually makes life feel good, has become optional.
Honestly this talk feels more like a stand up comedy show than a true educational talk. Too many cheap jokes. I like it when people get to point. Half of of video are just jokes.
You know the depressing part? I'm already doing all of these things. I'm so exhausted by how flakey and unresponsive everyone else is. Try organising something when people take two days to respond. And then the same people will find barriers anyway, whether it's a spontaneous plan or something a week Monday. Finding the people worth keeping around as friends is half the battle, and I'm so tired of it.
Does Anwen Reid’s anxiety quiz give advice based on your specific result, or does everyone eventually get the same recommendations? I’ve seen people talk about completely different issues, so I’m wondering how personalized the final explanation actually is.
only 2 minutes in so maybe it gets touched on later, but to be honest your partner (married or otherwise) ought to basically already be your friend by the time you're living together.
though it is of course healthy to have friends outside of your home relationship(s). people need seperate and/or alone time from partners
What perfect timing. Ive been wandering through the past decade ive been wandering through the backstreets of my mind, friendless. Sure men from church, neighbors, the typical howdy then once the front door slams, so does the conversation. Although most of the time my doors slams the quickest. My wife and I have a great friendship but dude, girls just dont get the weirdness of guys. Plus they think were just guys and dont want to talk about life or have the need for a guy to relate to. Its tougher for me to start conversations with most guys since I'm a KLUTZ that was asked not to help coach my son's vollyball team, by my son, himself! Im an artist that likes drinking coffee and cooking. Not studly conversation starters. Anyway, you gave me a glommer of hope. You are appreciated!
What an amazing set of insights and actionable habits. I’m taking out my calendar now and calling someone who I want to get together with. A home run. thanks
Do you feel that friendship is harder as you get older?

How about greeting the person sitting next to you to start, then have a conversation after the talk?
