People are usually surprised to hear that my entire core stock portfolio is just plain global stock funds. Nothing else, no regional tilts, no sector bets. In this video I walk through the cheapest gl
Thanks for sharing, I have been gradually moving over to ETFs as I approach retirement in 18 months, but still hold most of my funds in individual stocks in companies in most parts of the world. I hold the ACWI all world (intend getting to 40%) and intend building this up over the next year, I also will be building up VHYL (to 15%) and LDGG (15%) which are similar but LDGG has a stricter criteria and is managed so want to see if the additional management cost gets better performance, also QQQA (15%) as I think US tech has a lot of growth and VFEG (10%) as I think there is greater growth potential in emerging markets going forward, plus 5% CSH2. What do you think of this breakdown for my retirement? I suspect I may also hold some cash in my ISA and a few individual shares like AMD and Keller. Cheers
My son just turned 22, he's been very lucky and has £24,000 from an inheritance he now holds in savings, i know very little about investing but i know enough to convince him to invest it, he seems keen on the idea but i was unsure how to guide him, think i will advise the global approach.
I just discovered by watching a video earlier today that PACW is an ESG fund, due to Amundi's ESG policy across all its investments. I didn't know that, despite reading up on it and nearly transferring a chunk of my SIPP into it at the beginning of this year. I'm glad I opted for the HSBC All World OEIC, as I avoid ESG funds and just go for the whole market. (I prefer to make my own mistakes when it comes to thematic investing thanks very much).
tl:dr - invest in a global tracker, every day/week/month and don't forget. get on with your life. How this should have been drilled into 20 year old me... Great job on Vid.
