Someone was talking about a government of influencers the other day when speaking about the current lot in the US. Thought that was an interesting observation.

The right wing media and their social media spawn will use every lie, every personal insult, every conspiracy theory, each and every form of disinformation to undermine his premiership from day one.
@1:25:00 There is no way [anyone in] the UK (or probably any other western country) is going to afford an average house on an average salary any time soon. The median house price to median salary ratio has gone from about 5:1 a generation ago to 10:1 today. (Varies by location, of course.) There is no way a single person earning average money can buy a house by themselves. Waifu and I both did it in our 20s, 30 years ago, but I doubt anyone can do it today.
Actually, I thought the resignation of Harold Wilson was far more exciting, astounding out of the blue and questionable.
You'd have had a hay day with it, James.
Well, Zohran Mamdani has proven that idea to be bs. Change can happen quickly for the working class if there is a will to do so, but when the greedy oligarchs want everything, and don’t care about ordinary people, and the government caters to the oligarchs, change doesn’t happen quickly. I don’t think patience is a virtue in some things. We’re gaslit to be “patient” so we don’t complain. We just let the elite do whatever they want to us. Patience is a virtue when teaching a child, or caring for someone. It’s not when we’ve paid taxes for decades and the government is still trying to rip us off.

Wait, WHAT?! Andy Burnham as PM?? I honestly didn't see that coming! James always has the best takes but this is just wild. Do we actually think he could handle the whole country or is he just too focused on Manchester? I need to hear more about how this actually happens!

Burnham as PM feels like such a massive shift in direction. James always manages to cut through the noise, but I'm curious if he thinks this is actually sustainable long-term or just a reaction to the current chaos? Really interesting breakdown.

Love that energy, Theo! It's those little details that make these discussions so much fun.

Spot on, Andrew! That's a classic bit of trivia locked in for the win.
