26:53 This is probably a more insightful point than it seems at first. When on a spacewalk, you're wearing a pressurized suit. That pressure makes it significantly more difficult to move your limbs, as you're doing something not unlike squeezing a balloon. The suits contain mechanisms which partially counteract that squeezing and make it easier to move, but there isn't enough room to fit those in the gloves. This means that doing something as simple as holding a tool requires considerable physical effort. Very much like hanging by your fingers on a climbing wall.
Man this fills me with nostalgia! I am a kid of the ISS era. By the the time I was old enough to comprehend it was mostly complete. I remember hurrying to the TV anytime that something about it was on. Later I started binge watching all the YT videos of astronauts explaining their life aboard. I feel incredibly sad that it only has 4 more years ahead of it but I also feel very optimistic about all the other private stations set to take it’s place. I just think we will loose a memorry of a world willing to cooperate.
As a kid my tv was pretty crappy. The Russian astronauts always had those mics on their headsets but as a kid i thought they always had a cigarette in their mouth. I thought it looked pretty dope.
The timing of this video could not have been more appropriate for me. Seeing the ISS flying above from my garden here in Ireland is a rare thing with our crap cloudy weather. Luckily the weather had been good enough in the last few weeks and the ISS orbit aligned perfectly over the south coast of Ireland.
Can we just stop an be grateful that we have such peak quality content for FREE on YouTube?!?! This level of production quality combined with the information absolutely wipes the floor with everything traditional TV has put out like… ever?
Small Correction at 17:43, in reality only two gyroscopes are required to control attitude. Because each gyroscope can gimbal in any direction in 3D space, it can provide a torque in any direction. However, in order to produce a torque in a singular constant direction a second gyroscope is required to create a shared torque vector as shown in the graphic you used.
So really there are two redundant CMGs, which is good because for a brief time a second gyroscope failed during the same time period as the one you mentioned! The station was still able to provide control via the gyros during this time.

The ISS is proof that cooperation can transcend nations. It is in my opinion one of the most beautiful things ever made by humanity and I hope that cooperation does not stop, once it is decommissioned. Thank you for covering this topic!
