20 minutes from arrival to baggage and about 15 minutes on the way back, at Palma de Mallorca. Dozens of machines and lots of very helpful staff. Quicker than pre-EES.
How is that different from entering US, Mexico, Canada (even before the WC26), China, Australia, India etc??? Even the UK. Please, stop complaining and keep the queue moving 😜
Me and my son almost missed our connecting flight home to Vancouver because of this new system. We were queuing in Amsterdam Schiphol and only made it few minutes before gate closed 😅
These are teething problems. Ultimately, there will be faster checks in the future once more and more travelers have registered. After all, registration must be a one-time process.
Scanning at self-service kiosks will eventually be faster than manual stamping, and it helps detect identity fraud and ensures that people do not stay in the Schengen area longer than permitted.
In April I was flying to Boston USA from Lisbon and needed to wait 4 hours in a queue. Due to non of machines worked, and there were only 2 officers who did stamps in passport. Not EES wrong but millions invested into execution turned out to be extremely inefficient I would say 100% stolen or spent wrong, because I can’t explain why it doesn’t work.
I entered Germany a month ago. The EES part was fine. Lots of machines to use. But then you have to go stand in line to talk to an actual customs agent. And there is only 3 of them actually working. That’s where the real delays come in
