The Heat: Climate Crisis | Marine heatwaves

A new United Nations report says the world's oceans are in serious trouble. More than 600 scientists from around the world found climate change, pollution, overfishing and the loss of marine life are

Not to mention all the radioactivity. There are about 62 million tonnes of Radioactive Potassium 40 dissolved in our planet's oceans along with more than 4 billion tonnes of radioactive Uranium and this includes enough U235 to fabricate more than a billion nuclear weapons. A pile of sea salt large enough to contain enough U235 to fabricate a nuclear weapon can be pulled by a full sized pickup. It should also be noted that the beta radioactivity from Potassium 40 has almost 3 times the energy of beta radioactivity from Strontium 90, one of the 2 primary components of high level nuclear waste. It should also be noted that the half life of Potassium 40 is over a billion years via vi about 30 for Strontium 90.
All of this compares to about 440 thousand tonnes of radioactive waste discharged from all the nuclear power plants on the planet since the first one went into operation in the early 1950s.
So, the radioactive material dissolved in our oceans is a factor ten thousand times greater than all the nuclear waste generated by all the commercial nuclear power plants since the beginning of the nuclear age.

Lets face it, the waffle will just go on and on...
Climate Summit held in a Car:
Personally, I have always thought that climate summits were utterly meaningless, merely organized by the host countries to advance their political agendas, to highlight their concern to the world, and to establish a reputation for an environmental consciousness.
But in truth, they all just roll on, one summit blending into another, while the various committees, governments, and climatologists sitting on them deliberate and procrastinate. While outside, paradoxically, the 'save the planet' crowd vainly demonstrates about something for which all are equally responsible for, guilty of, and accomplices to.
I interpret all these summits as follows: Imagine a Climate Summit Committee, sitting in a car on an extremely hot sunny day, deciding what to do!
The Mother of all Climate Summits…
"Ladies and gentlemen, we are sitting here to debate the rising temperature."
"Do we open a window?" "Says the chairman.
"Now just a minute!" Member number one interjects, "What do I personally stand to lose if the said window is opened, and what will this expenditure of effort cost in the long term?"
"Yes, quite so." Member

You see, the real problem is the math, people think a 1.5-degree rise in global temperature is insignificant, 'sustainable' even, however, the ocean doesn't, neither does the troposphere and neither do those eager beavers in waiting; the millions of tons of methane hydrates, patiently biding their time to raise their ugly heads and use 1.5 degrees as the catalyse for 3 degrees, 4 degrees, 5 degrees!

Stop! building high rise building.

You should see the amount of untreated raw sewage Britain is dumping directly into the sea. Since 2016, hundreds of tonnes per day.
Nothing done to stop them, I live on the coast and I can tell you that when tourists arrive they still dump it, knowing families are playing on the beach. They don’t seem to understand how much human waste is actually on the sand, on the sand where children playing with buckets and spade.
Britain has been run by a mafia style government, You can do whatever you like as long as you grease the pockets of politicians

Way way too many ships on the oceans.

Could there be a way that some of these oil rigs that are left out in the deep can they pull some cooler water up somehow they were able to pull oil if we could utilize those abandoned rigs worldwide and possibly use them to pull cool waters up. And the desalination plants reach further out to dump their salt slow distribution of Salt.

Here in the US they are ignoring all this and going after the last open spaces for the minerals and resources under the ground 😵💫

How much worse will this get lol? What do you think? As the planet continues to heat it will continue to get worse. Its cause and effect its not magically going to stop is it? Scientists have been telling us for decades and yet these questions are still being asked in the face of overwhelming evidence. There really is little hope. Only love remains

It's a good cause but the government of all Nations don't give a damn!?

All that extra carbon is dissolved in the oceans and is killing the bottom of the food chain. Anchovies and sardines for example are in much smaller numbers.

I made a little web series called "Mars New Albion" that was a deadpan joke about how 'nice' living in a lifeboat colony on Mars could be, based on nobody ever going outside because there's nothing for anyone outside but death. I can't help thinking now that that's where we're headed on Earth - only instead of an egalitarian community-first project, it'll be more like a grinding, miserable peasant camp at the base of a rich guy's castle walls.

Depressing! Plastics pollution alone! Every time I throw out a bag of trash, I think of it--and I'm just one person doing this among millions and millions.
@
Enjoy what you can, while you still can. Pity the generations to come. Rejoice, for the collaspe of the AMOC and Thwaites Glacier are imminent.
@
Plastic is not soo much the Problem , its forever chemicals.
And with climate change more storms , surges , flooding , everything mankind got , will end up in the oceans.
And we are on the point climate change will level soon the 1st nuclear reactor and then the rest will follow.

0:20 "The message is simple, but urgent. The future of humanity depends on the future of the ocean." Anyone who is paying attention knows "ocean processes" are "changing". Most notable is sea surface temperature.

To be honest: it is already too late.. change was bound to happen but Mankind has sealed his own fate with arrogant smugness. The Earth is Pissed..

Fill Salton Sea & Death Valley with circulating ocean water including Las Vegas to desalinate & mine the waste brine for 8 commodities. The heart of Texas will grow food, fuel, carbon sequestration with ocean water along with housing astride new rivers of ocean water inland.
