Chinese President Xi, for the first time, spoke at the opening ceremony of the 2026 World AI Conference in Shanghai. #Heat #China #AI #WAIC #Shanghai #technology #AIconference
China and the US are developing AI technology in distinct ways. The Chinese focus on solving specific problems and integrating the technology into industrial production processes and manufactured goods—particularly robots. Americans pursue the elusive goal of creating a self-aware Super AI that, like a *deus ex machina*, will either solve all the world's problems or eventually destroy civilization after devouring all of humanity's data like an anthropophagous monster. In mythological terms, we might say the American AI resembles Polyphemus: powerful, self-sufficient, and antisocial—dwelling in a vast cave—yet possessing a great, all-seeing eye and showing little regard for human dignity or life. Chinese AI is more akin to Odysseus: small compared to Polyphemus, yet entirely focused on the specific task of leading a crew of narrow AIs and capable of devising a way to accomplish that mission—which includes blinding the monstrous, antisocial American Cyclops AI that seeks to imprison and destroy it.😂😂
