The cigarette ads remind me of Conquest for the Planet of the Apes (1973) when the lady says that now that she knows they're not bad for her, she doesn't enjoy it as much. And sorry, Mike, you didn't grow up having to watch cigarette commercials or see the Yankee wall with the Marlboro man holding a cigarette. A friend of mine was offered to be the Marlboro man and turned it down. They told him he would earn thousands and didn't have to hold a cigarette. He still said no way.

People we are supposed to trust are lying to us, which makes everybody else lie about things. People should just be more honest. Maybe if we were more honest about things it wouldn’t be as bad to hear some of the truth.
When my son was a kid, he did print ad and store catalogue modelling. He did a Kraft mag ad featuring lasagna where he watches eagerly, head on chin, as his fake mom’s arm lifts lasagna from a pan full of gooey cheese. The shoot took a couple of hours because of what the food stylist had to do to the food to make it look appetizing and to make the cheese look like it did. It was almost criminal lol I remember hairspray being used at one point.
I remember back in 1970; there was a big sale at the local mall. So we went to look. My dad said they had marked UP a lot of the merchandise a couple of weeks before, just so they could then change the price so they could call the 'new' price, 50% off. I never believed 'sales' again, especially when I realized that the word 'Sale' didn't mean discounted. The word SALE just means that things were being sold, so, 'BIG SALE!' just meant that the merchant expected to sell a lot of stuff.
