Looking for consciousness in the maths of the universe we over look the simple fact that it/we is/are the equal sign of every equation. We give reality the value we are always seeking.
Not only does it describe reality, reality may emerge from it. I am currently studying emergency from admissible comparison and local moves on a graph. It is actually quite interesting.

I’m a genius by no means whatsoever but I figured this out decades ago on mushrooms and lsd, but the last part about “maybe our physical reality is just mathematics in motion” blew my mind.
Coolest thing about AI, is that we will no longer need to be a Fields Medal recipient to test out new ways to link mathematical expressions to practical realities and uncover impractical actualities.
The title of this video is "Do we live inside a mathematical universe?" It is interesting and descriptive. However, the YouTube link and title appears in my browser as "Higher-Dimensional Beings Are Staring at Us Outside Space-Time," which is lurid and misleading but probably generates more clicks. I wish we could come up with a better way of organizing and distributing information than via advertising revenue determined by click counts.
Einstein would never have thought Newton’s laws wouldn’t work near black holes as a reason to look for another theory because black holes were unknown until one particular solution to relativity resulted in their prediction.
You could extend this idea with Wolfram's Ruliard space ideas where conscious agents with different "headsets" would have different mathematical structures
Interesting line of thought. I hope there are people pursuing this and see where it leads. I am burned out on purely philosophical conjectures about consciousness. They all end up being circular. Using math, physics and biological science to approach the question seems much more fruitful to me. Although the math can be beautiful when describing a 10+1 dimensional universe, the real goal is to explain the universe we live in. That remains devilishly evasive to even our brightest minds.
But this path of research may at least take us to the next level of understanding what consciousness truly is.
Video games are the perfect expression of it. How many hours have we spent navigating, exploring virtual worlds that capture our senses when behind the images we see all there is are multiple mathematical equations we know as codes.
