Wow, the BBC sounds like it's read the NHS guidance about vaping. I was worried this was going to be a 1 hour lecture on Popcorn Lung.

This would have been nice if it was tied to research papers, if you really wanted to educate the people

I vape on and off but the one thing about vape is that it’s at the ready always unlike a cigarette that needs sparking, rolling and eventually goes out. So you end up vaping a lot more so you take a lot more nicotine so is more addictive in my opinion
@
Its better for sure, but where is the beef

The thing this misses out, which I think potentially makes vapes more harmful than cigarettes, is regularity of ‘smoking’ either. If you smoke cigarettes, it’s likely that you’ll smoke much less regularly because of the laws in this country on when and where you go for a smoke. Conversely, although most of the same laws apply for vapes, I’ve seen people that will keep their vape in their hand the entire day (much like a phone) and puff away every 5 seconds, right from when they wake up to when they go to bed; I’m not sure that many smokers of cigarettes these days would do the same now.

The other point is about vapes should be used as an aid to get off smoking cigarettes - and this is how they were initially advertised - not as a substitute.

It's not about public health, It's about taxing if it was about public health they would of banned cigarettes and tobacco years ago.

I started vaping for no good reason at all. After about a year, I ran the numbers on the equivalent number of cigarettes I was consuming per day. It was 60 - 80 per day. I didn't even feel it. Horrified by that realisation, I've since been diluting my nicotine juice down and over the last 3 months, I've gone from ~70 cigarettes/d to about 5/d. Now that I've adjusted to this low dose, I'm about ready for the final boss - dropping it entirely. Horrible habit.

The crazy thing is, in Australia, the materials to dilute vape juice are illegal and buying premixed low strength vape juice is just as expensive as buying the highest strength available. Originally that's what got me, I bought the high strength stuff, expecting to dilute it, but couldn't get the PG/VG/flavours so I just used the high strength juice thinking "yeah I'll get around to it".

The problem with disposables (and now refillable) is they use salt nic which works quicker and is seriously addictive. I use freebase so I can control how much I use

Started cigarettes when I was 13, repeatedly tried to give up for about 3 decades, just kept going back, switched to vaping about 10 years ago, and not touched a cigarette since, the only thing that ever worked for me is vaping, do not miss cigarettes at all, and feel so much better
@
What about breathing in 2nd hand vape mist? Like 2nd hand smoke.

For the first time ever I agreed with everything said in this video on vaping. Well done. I was expecting a distorted doom and gloom story. The UK is a world leader on thinking and attitude about vaping.

Please get rid of that annoying "chat bubble" sound effect

Ive seen more underage kids smoking vapes than i ever did cigarettes .....thats one huge problem with these things right there .

The main reason i can see adults vaping was to kick cigarettes but there is literaly people vaping who never smoked a day in their life going onto these things , thats another problem with them .

Regardless of if they are safer or not , vapes seem to be MORE addictive as they are never out your damn hand and have got MORE HOOKED than cigarettes ...in my opinion .

Also , atleast with smoking there isnt tonnes of waste , from plastic , lithiam batteries and sh*t , aswell as wasting electricity to charge the stupid things .

They use 100x more resources for the same effect ?

Government is bad for your health, warn people about that.

Lets find out more about the effects of vaping on the vascular system. We know vaping is better for the lungs, but I've got a feeling that its really bad for your circulation.

We've created a brand new generation of children addicted to nicotine. Instead of just letting smoking naturally die out, we've replaced it with brightly coloured 'toy' cigarettes. Vapes should have been a medicine you get from the chemist, like a nicotine patch, Instead we have theese 'sweet shops ' dedicated to them. All in the name of profit. Its just like the 1950s all over again. We need to nip this in the bud now, treat them exactly the same as cigarettes, and start a nationwide campaign in schools teaching about the dangers of vaping to the body.

been vaping since 2009, had no issues, no battery explosions, no poisonings, nothing, I don't think it has calories, as it's a vapour, that you inhale, I do love the loaded language, is it harmless, LOL Alcohol isn't harmless, how many people does that kill? but sure, vaping needs to be warned against....

I'm 47 and was a habitual 0mg nicotine vaper (every minute or so) until 9 months ago - having previously been a smoker and using vapes to get off that (started with a 2 week cruise that I didn't want to ruin by nipping off for a cigarette all the time - much easier to vape). I never thought I'd give up vaping, but became driven to do so when I started taking my fitness a bit more seriously. In the end, I found it easy to stop vaping once I started going to the gym and realising my lung capacity and O2 saturation was awful. I found I got to a point where I could feel I should be able to breathe 'more', but physically I just couldn't get any more into the lungs. Within a couple of weeks of stopping, I was no longer coughing up clear phlegm every morning, and my breathing began improving noticeably. 9 months on, I genuinely can't believe I used to spend so much time - and so much money - doing something so completely pointless.

Working all day in dusty Warehouses and Factory's is very bad for you, especially the older ones clad with asbestos. Walking in town is very bad for you at rush hour , all those fumes from vehicles in the air !!
