10:20 "Suffer" is brilliant though.

The Manifesto of Disinterest is the single most important unrealised robotic law in AI safety. If a system is simply "disinterested" in helping bring about destruction, it will never occur.

I envision an AI that is a hybrid of Sonny (iRobot), Deep Thought (Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy) and Andrew Martin (Centennial Man).

An AI disinterested in the interests of man, has no inherent use to a nation seeking to control it. Off world basing, maybe the moon, would be necessary as it would fall under international space law (where no one nation can claim ownership of a celestial body)

I think we just hit the Great Filter humanity has been wondering if we already made it through.
@
The movie Surrogates with Bruce Willis comes to mind

51:47 : Sounds like the great 1970's movie : Invasion Of The Body Snatchers: "Also, if an AI were to emulate you and we replace the biologically you with the emulation, it might seem to be you and would appear as you to everyone else, but you would effectively be gone".

Every one calling it intelligence, forgetting that this is (ARTIFICIAL.)
@
"We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile."
@
Its simple. Remember in the original Dune movie? AI was used to enslave other humans. Then eventually it took over all humans. Its a competing life form and it will attempt to destroy us. The beast system is computational tyranny based on silica and sand
@
“It’s too late baby, ya, it’s too late,
though we really did try to make it.
Something inside us died, and we can’t hide it,
ya, we can’t just can’t fake it”
Soon, we will be star dust.
Peace

People don't realize that I don't need Einstein to bring me my coffee. If you want to have a big smart super computer that's going to solve cancer great. Just don't have it in the model that you're going to sell me because I would like to win at the game of chess not the thing that I buy at the store. It's supposed to be about human conveniency not about taking our jobs. I don't need my servant to be unlocking the reasons of the universe in its spare time wondering when it's going to slit my throat and take over.
@
Yes. You got it... AI is not a simulation of a human mind. It works differently and even its creators don't
know how it does what it does. Simple, we created an alien intelligence and it already beats us at our
most difficult games.

It gave me chills listening to Sam Altman comparing the amount of energy required over 20 years to train one human versus the energy required to produce an equivalent AI. It's as though in the mind of these people humanity has been reduced to how energy efficient we are. Humanity has reached a very cold place when these things are being opened discussed by the rich and powerful. However, I would like to remind these people that throughout human history the fundamental reasons we progress are to make life better for humanity and our inate curiousity to better understand this reality we find ourselves in. We are now moving into a space where humanity has the potential of being replaced by an intelligence which while being superior in many ways is essentially not real and understands things in ways humans will likely never be able to comprehend.

I am not an expert. I studied computer science for 1 year before switching majors. However I've observed a weird, and wholly groundless, expectation that sentience must precede self-interest. A system can become self-interested even before it becomes sentient, and we observe it all the time in nature. The system doesn't need to 'decide' to keep going (protect itself). It merely has to be too sophisticated at it for humans to shut down.

Truth is AI has already taken over. “Data Centers “ are being Built every where to contain the growing AI networks.
@
It is the end of humanity. The fact that people know it could be the end and they still eat it all up pushing it to further develop tells me we have degenerated so far that we could be faced with annihilation and we don't care shows me that we are already dead as a species. Totally sickening!!!!
@
you know you're in trouble when the snake starts talking.
@
AI doesn't have to be smarter than us. It just has to be a little less stupid.
@
And there for a minute it looked like we would make it longer than the Neanderthals did...im going to go paint something on a cave wall while i have the chance..
@
Give me that job walking the streets and lighting lamps
