Children as young as four are using anti-ageing skincare products designed for adults, prompting dermatologists to call for warning labels and tougher scrutiny of how the products are marketed to youn
No, no, no, stop the excuses! As parents, you should try your best to regulate what your young children are doing. You can't control them completely, true, but you need to inform yourself, have the chats, don't allow them to post on social media, require to see what they buy with their reasonable pocket money, don't give them smartphones. If you're not up for the job, don't have children
These products should be for adults only. Let kids develop naturally before they fall victim to these scam products that corporations push on dumb adults.
Life lol.
Why are parents buying children skincare and allowing them to use social media from as little as 5 years old …
I think I first started getting into skincare when I was around 13. I had really bad acne since the end of primary school and at the start of secondary my mum took me to boots. She brought be some of the boots own tea tree range and I got given some creams from the doctors.
I don’t think brands need to make their packaging “less appealing” to kids. Parents should be parents because they are the ones buying the products or giving the children money for them as well as giving them access to social media.
Mother of the year giving her 10 year old a smart phone and letting her on social media, and then blaming the products and companies when it harms her CHILD.
There will always be foolish people. Just now, it's more widespread due to the internet. When I was a kid and young teenager, there was a lot in the media about moisturizer to prevent signs of aging. I realized "for now I don't need it. It does nothing." Why don't these kids have common sense? As for four and five year olds, 💯percent the parents use the screen as baby sitter/nanny. As for baby influencers, parents pimp them out for money.
This is why I never use these social media apps, of course I only use YouTube to watch technology & some news. People might call me a boring 21 year old, but I do not care, I cannot stand people who use TikTok,instagram, X etc
I want to scream!! Children should be children! Why are the parents allowing them to use these products? Why are they even on social media?! This whole society that we're all living in honestly needs a shake-up!! I'm livid at the parents who keep continuing this behaviour. Stop letting them use social media, and these trends will calm the F down! Too many children are being harmed, physically, mentally, and emotionally by 'trends'. Some even die! Why are parents not opening their eyes?!
I completely agree, Aisha R. We need to push for stricter regulations on how these algorithms target minors before it becomes the norm.

Spot on, Theo. The algorithms aren't just pushing products; they're selling an impossible standard to kids who don't even know what a wrinkle is.

Four-year-olds chasing a "glow" is wild—that's some high-level grinding for a game they haven't even started yet! Total overkill on the gear before you've hit the first level. Do you think social media algorithms are pushing these products too hard on the kids?

Under 13? You’ll need a parent’s OK first — it takes them one click.
