I run two 24/7 gas stations in Kansas City. Everything in this film is true. People don't come for gas, they come because someone knows their name at 5 AM. Thank you for telling our story.

Born and raised in Southern California as a Mexican American, there’s something about the South that I love. It’s the American culture.
@
Been running a gas station for 25 years and I serve everyone. No regrets

it drives me crazy that people demean service workers. as someone with a disability, going to the corner store, the coffee shop, whatever, chatting with the people who feed me and keep the community alive is always a bright spot in my day. i feel more cared for by some of the people who work in my community than the doctors or police. thanks for making this!
@
lol thats crazy just clicked on a random video and its about a town not 20 minutes from me.. I love my state

Shout out to all the small towns in NC, I wouldn't wanna live anywhere else, my neighbors have cookouts almost every weekend
@
Amazing documentary! More like this, please, PBS!!
@
More NC gas station grills! There’s so many to document
@
I really miss a good sausage and biscuit with mustard.
@
This was well done. I come from a small town and never thought about how instrumental gas stations were to the community, especially full service, something I took for granted. Thank you for shedding such a caring light on their journey.❤

I need a full documentary. It touches my heart to see my home state highlighted (Grew up in Eastern NC, 252 area) and nothing beats good food from the gas station especially when you see the elders pulled up regularly and long lines during lunch rush
@
that southern indian accent is ADORABLE

I work at a place like this. We also sell hot dogs next door. 15 years. People love us and we love them.

This is why third places are essential for a functioning democracy- when all space is privatized and the majority of our time is spent either at work or (if we can afford it) home, its so important to have these kinds of places where people can commune. Coming from someone who lives/works very close to Waynesville.

Went to a university in a small town in Louisiana and if you didn’t get to the gas station within an hour of opening you’d miss out on the fried gizzards and would have to settle for sausage biscuits. It was country af but I loved it

Like me and my family with a Chinese restaurant in central Mississippi.
@
Nine minutes is not enough! I would love to watch a whole full hour or more documentary on these places. Great people, conversations, and pictures! I hope there’s more of this in the future!

This gets me emotional because THIS is America. Down home, dedicated, helping your neighbor.

The most job satisfaction I have ever found was as an overnight gas station clerk over 30 miles away from the next 24 hour business. Countless travelers saved by bathrooms, water, and early morning fresh donuts. I felt like I was actually doing something good for people
