Didn't Gary Lineker predict JH as chancellor?
@
Imagine what the second string of this pathetic party is going to be like. These are the ones who couldn't even get picked first. God only knows what happens next.
@
Someone capable of actually explaining something to the public.
@
Not really a surprise at all. Many commentators predicted John Healy for chancellor when Burnham won Makerfield.
@
Yup someone such as Healey as chancellor is a red flag. Nothing changes really.
@
Perhaps he can find some money for defence.

Healy getting his reward for helping bring down Starmer.. Seems like him leaving at that particular time was not a coincidence, obviously the unelected king of the north did a deal...

Oh the American military industrial complex will be pleased.
@
Thank god it wasn't Ed Milliband

Burnham specifically mentioned defence in a very short speech, and now he's appointed the ex-Defence Secretary as Chancellor in a very interesting move. The early signs are that there will be a new emphasis on defence, perhaps linking it with the re industrialisation of the country.

It really is wild, Theo. I wonder if drones or precision missiles will eventually make heavy artillery obsolete, or if the raw power of a howitzer is just irreplaceable.

Spot on, Cal. I'm curious to see if the next leader leans into more tech-driven governance to actually modernize how things run.

It's all a load of bloody bollocks!!
