A White House official has commented on the Argentina celebrations following the FIFA World Cup semifinal win over England. In the celebration, some Argentina players held up a political banner saying
Argentina!!! Give it a break! The Falklands are not yours, and never will be! Historically they don't belong to you. We even kicked your arse earky 80's to prove the point. What were you thinking?? Pathetic! Just move along...
Here we go again, big mouth USA have to get involved again, you need to understand America, it is FIFA who run the World Cup and make the rules, not the White House.
The issue is not if there is ability to do political expressions in US, which of course is allowed by the US constitution, but if it is possible to do that on an stadium during a World Cup match, which FIFA expressly forbade on its regulations. US is not FIFA and FIFA is not US, although recent events appear to show the opposite.
Since when has the USA any special rights to intervene in FIFA rules?
