Its estimated casualty rate of over 30,000 per month exceeds its recruitment rate of 27,000 soldiers per month. This year Russia is calculated to have lost 8 soldiers for every 1 Ukrainian casualty, up from a rate of 3:1 during the first years of the war, according to the CSIS.
