I really enjoy watching this type of video on space, time, physics, etcetera; however, I can never follow it. At some point I end up lost, mystified, confused and hoping that just maybe I will be able to follow the next one all the way to the end.
It's unfortunate that 'law' was picked as the word for what we call laws of physics, because it misleads us into thinking those laws dictate how the universe behaves, when they don't dictate anything. What physical laws do is simply describe certain interactions and relationships that are always true. It's kinda like the difference between a governor on your accelerator which prevents you from going above a certain speed, and a speedometer that tells you your velocity. The governor controls. The speedometer simply describes. Physical laws are like the speedometer: they don't control, they describe -- and calling them laws makes it difficult not to think that they actually control how the universe works. A better word would be pattern or principle.
Man, I got invested in the 15min intro. Then he proceeds to drop the entropy bomb and the video just ends. Now I have more questions than I started with 😅
My favourite Einstein story. One time when asked about time passing at different rates he said -
