Let me see we're paying for our NATO allies upkeep of those bases? How did they help us out in Iran we couldn't launch any offensive from those bases to shorten the way to get there and it would have been a strain on resources as well. Thanks a lot you NATO allies you treat your own citizens like crap!!
Thankfully Australia is not part of NATO but probably should consider joining since the submarine payments were all made to NATO countries with nothing to show for the money.
Not to mention the free military equipment given to Ukraine by Australia.
It seems like anything to do with NATO demands massive donations in some way shape or form with no return on the investment.

And what justification is there that the US should bare the lion share? It’s pretty hypocritical to look down on US prosperity and policies but still expect to benefit by them.
Taking not just money to NATO but the troops and equipment the US send and based in other countries it would make the graph look small. Just look at England used to have a strong navy but has shrunk down so much that it was pushed just to send 1 Destroyer to a overseas base.
The Ukrainian war has woken some countries up to really think about defence spending and increase numbers across the board. The old saying about good times create weak men applies to this as well.
Each country is paying a certain percentage, but it is true that the United States pays a vastly larger amount than others. After many NATO member responses refusing US requests to use airbases during the Iran war, there doesn’t seem to be a big reason to do that. America looks at it as we’re paying all this money to protect you, and we get nothing from it. You pay very little and it allows you to finance your social programs such as national healthcare. That will end when you have to defend yourself.
They spend all their money on feeding, housing and giving physical cash to Muslim migrants they’re more worried about them than anybody else on the planet, including their own citizens
