Is there anything Burnham doesn't want to improve? Devolution, Care/NHS, Welfare, Defence, Economy, Education, Justice, Pensions, Transport...Gaza. He seems very happy to promise anything or everything to anybody or everybody without any caveats.
I can't wait to see this, it'll beike the miracle of the loaves and fish. 🍞🐟
What's wrong with Rachel Reeves....she was an economist with the Bank of England, and a chess champion.
Why would we need anyone else to tax us, squander the money and borrow more?
Shock horror revolt in the Labour Party! Never 😮 They can blame Starmer all they want, and he’s made plenty of errors, but eventually it may become apparent why Labour can’t get owt done is cos of the Labour Party itself !!
Interesting that none of the Labour MPs know Shabana Mahmood’s position on the economy, actually the whole electorate doesn’t know Burnham’s position on anything!! He needs to get in front of Parliament and face some scrutiny…..but he won’t. He’s chased the top job, and now he’s got it, he doesn’t know what to do with it….!!
The people of the UK deserve better than this shambles of a government. Burnham is unwilling to take questions in parliament or from the press. He's a shoe in for a very unpopular PM who did numerous u turns and no plan for Government to be replaced by a PM who doesn't want to be answerable for what he intends to do. This country is on its knees with no credible government

It really does feel like the unity pledge was premature, Mara. If they can't align on the Chancellor now, I wonder how they'll handle actual policy disputes once they're in power?

Typical of today's politics, isn't it? All shouting and fighting before they've even sat down in the chairs. I remember when party loyalty actually meant something and you settled these squabbles behind closed doors instead of airing all the dirty laundry for the cameras. It's all just noise these days.

Welcome everyone! It's wild that there is already this much tension over Mahmood before he's even officially started. That "party unity" pledge seems to be fraying fast. Do you think these early clashes will actually weaken the government's position, or is this just typical politics?
