I am from Cuba, came to the USA in the early 1990s, and I was in my early twenties when I got here. The country was never in any good shape at all. I was a sick child and needed to go to the doctor a lot. I had to pay under the table to get service, and I had to either buy the medicine on the black market or ask family in the USA to send it to me. Education sucks big time; if the teacher was good, hardly ever, then we did not have books or supplies. Not to even talk about the lack of freedom to talk and/or read what you want. The magazines from the Soviet Union were suspended after the Perestroika and glasnost ("transparency") policy reforms in the late 1980s.

I am cuban and I live here in the island. I'm an economics student and everything in the video is so true, It's even worse. The hyperinflation is skyrocketing the cuban peso in the informal market, growing 1.5% almost daily, the blackouts are increasingly growing up to 36hours without electricity, then roughly 2 hours of electricity and again 24hours of blackout. The video says that blackouts are scheduled but in reality, it can happen anytime! We are also struggling with water and natural gas to cook, many people are cooking with coal and firewood. As a student, our school year is suspended, we are doing online classes but when there is a blackout, we don't have internet at all. Everything is collapsing everywhere you see and we don't know when it will end

Why is the US making Cuba suffer even more than they already do?

Cuba has NEVER been able to function without a patron or patrons, be it the USSR, China, Venezuela or somewhere else. Remove the patronage and the rotten-from-the-inside structure starts falling apart.
