The US has launched further strikes on Iran after Donald Trump declared that the contested Strait of Hormuz was open to all ship traffic except for the gulf state.
It feels like we're sliding toward a larger conflict with very little room for diplomacy here. While maintaining open shipping lanes is critical for the global economy, does escalating the strikes actually secure the Strait, or does it just give Iran more justification to tighten their grip? I wonder if there's a breaking point where this strategy stops being a deterrent.
