China is sending a message to the US? The Chinese has been modernizing it's armed forces for some time now. Part of that has been increasing the number of nuclear weapons. The Pentagon releases figures on this. Currently the US estimates China has 600 nuclear devises and this will increase to 1000 in four years. This makes China the third largest nuclear power. The US knows that China has various delivery systems including six submarines armed with warheads.
