What a joke. The only country actively pushing fossil fuels, broadcasting climate change denial and actually cutting investments in renewables, is complaining about the smoke? Hey, it's YOUR smoke, it's the one your wasteful, ignorant "way of life" is imposing on the rest of the world.
We sent assistance, not complaints. We sent water bombers and firemen when California was burning. USA sending nothing but complaints. Sod off USA. Canada won't forget this
Fossil fuels produce emissions. Those emissions raise the temperature of the oceans & earth. The higher temperatures (climate change) create changing weather patterns that can produce severely dry conditions or drought. Lightning strikes & people doing people things (sometimes foolishly) spark the forests in these dry areas & the fires tend to spread quickly. At present China produce approx. 30% of the world's emissions. Historically the US has cumulatively produced 25% of the world's emissions. The 2023 wildfires produced 2.34 billion metric tonnes of CO2 or 39% of what the US produces annually or 16% of China's annual emissions for perspective.
The air quality sensors are definitely flashing red, Sofia. I wonder if we'll see some serious filtration tech upgrades in stadiums to handle this kind of stuff in the future.

It’s wild how these headlines read like a plot twist from a political thriller. The drama is high, but the air quality looks genuinely worrying. Does anyone know if there are actual updates on how this might affect the World Cup final? What are we thinking?
