The James Webb Space Telescope just revealed the true scale of the universe and it is more terrifying than anyone imagined. Twenty-five thousand galaxies in a patch of sky the size of a grain of sand.

Every single structure in the universe has a beginning a middle and an end. Like books in an infinite library only every time one is read, it gives up its place on the shelf for a new and diffent book. Everything you've ever thought of and everything you haven't does, has or will eventually exist somewhere.

This was fascinating! The most disturbing part is that we will never know the answers to many of the questions we have. We don't have the knowledge, intellectual capacity, or the longevity of both self and species to have any hope of finding the answers.

The scale of cosmology, in terms of time and distance, is so staggeringly, inhumanly vast that it's nigh on Impossible for us to grasp hold of it in any meaningful way.
@
We are literally a grain of sand in an unfathomable expanse

Man amazing reading. Wou.thank you very calming and usefull informations. Thank you so much
@
Any fact: *exists*
YouTube scientists: That is terrifying!

Graphic renderings of what you're talking about would be much more effective than non-relevant library footage.

The universe is unknowably vast and ancient, so it is a comfort to know that we managed to coexist with Twinkies. And some physicists theorize that other intelligent species must also have achieved Twinkies. This is a comforting thought.

42 minutes (approx) in, something no one has commented on: dark matter filaments. You were probably asleep and missed it.

It's exactly what I need right now 👍🏻

So well read and reported. Thank you❤
@
For me the most terrifying is what lies beyond the universe
@
I'll never forget watching the launch of James Webb. It was as exciting as the moon landing.
@
The answer is obvious. We were wrong. We know almost nothing about the universe.

Great work and thank you for sharing this way!!!

I knew the JWST was a different level of technology than I was familiar with when it took such a length of time to get into position and unfold into its receptive posture. And the way it was tested after it was in place... what a machine, what planning! There should be a Nobel Prize for Engineering -- make this its first recipient.

Universe: Alright, I've cooled down enough, you can exist now.

Atoms: Exist

The scale of this 2+hr video is even more terrifying..
I have a life to live.

If you think the scale of the universe is terrifying, try imagining the scale of what it’s expanding into

Ah just in time for bed 😊
