And Anushka's point about the signal it sends to the wider world is absolutely the major issue. And all Owen does is trot out trite nonsense.

A useful case study for how the US treats its allies when you dare to stand up to it is New Zealand when it became nuclear free and would not all US ships into NZ ports due to their neither confirm nor deny policy regarding nuclear status (armament or power). NZ was frozen out for well over a decade.
