Former Labor MP Michael Danby says Beijing made a brutal calculation to show up Australia’s weakness in the Pacific region with its missile launch in the South Pacific.
The timing was definitely a multi-layered signal. Beyond RIMPAC and the Australia-Fiji defense pact, that launch happened the day before the NATO Summit convened in Ankara with its Indo-Pacific partners, and just two days before the Taiwan International Ocean Forum (TIOF) opened in Taipei with representatives from 15 nations.
Great to see that the comments section is slowly improving and more and more people aren’t buying the pro US, anti China hysteria constantly trotted out by Sky Noise and the other corporate MSM anymore. Keep up the good work and hopefully more of the brainwashed masses will read these comments and have an alternative presented to them to think about and maybe even act on.

Maybe we need to work more towards affordable homes so young Australians actually have something to fight for. Just look at the westerners eyeing off nice, cheaper Chinese homes on YouTube channels! so China deploying a missile is "brutal" but US continual war games off the China coast, arming Taiwan, enlarging and encircling China with US military bases, continual statements that they will go to war with China, drafting plans for a sea blockade of China, stating their aim re Iran is to choke the oil supply to China - that's all ok - got it
everyone knows that missile is to let US know China's arms strength. China never wants to attack Australia or reckons Australia is a threat, but Australia under the influence of US takes China as a big threat. You media covers lots of negative news about China. One of my colleagues just came back from a trip to China and she feels China is not the country on your media!
Australia doesn't have any defence capability whatsoever. The successive governments have gone to sleep at the wheel regarding a military that is capable of more than a minor skirmish. The green ideas have drained all our wealth that could have been used for much better purposes. The Greens/Labor outfit is the most counter productive idealism in our history and continues on like a steamroller travelling downhill with a drunk at the helm, smashing everything down in it's path.
