If he bought the kit , how did he buy ammo ? Don't you need a FOID card or did the kit come with the ammo ?
@
According to the courts...The company is at fault because an under 21year old cannot legally buy a pistol or revolver . The 18 year old skirted gun laws to purchase the kit. The company illegally sold the kit directly to the 18 year old . The company actively skirted federal serial number regulations and age restrictions by splitting the gun into kits containing all the necessary parts to assemble a working pistol
@
This has to be a joke
@
So if he jumps off a bridge they will sue the bridge?
@
Why is nobody putting blame on the mail carrier for dropping it off
@
But you cant sue a car company when you get in an accident after they put a screen in the car that forced you to drive distracted.
@
Another BS lawsuit!

Why is it the blame only on the lower / grip assembly? Can we share some blame with the barrel / slide / trigger group? Makes as much sense
@
This is tragic and all but maybe the parents should of been more involved and not pass the blame.
@
This is ridiculous. The gun company had nothing to do with it. If he didn't have a gun, he would have used a rope, a car, pills, etc. The family and lawyers just wanted to get rich off his death.
@
Can someone explain this to me? I'm autistic apparently and cannot fathom this. If I purchase a firearm from you, go commit a crime, you get arrested/fined too? Seems like they just don't want people purchasing firearms.
@
The company didn't make him buy the gun today society wants to blame everybody else just greedy
@
An adult bought a firearm kit. It's legal to make your own firearms.

He had time to order it, have it shipped to him, build it and off himself. Where were the parents?

THIS WILL BE OVERTURNED. The parents failed this kid and they are blaming anyone but themselves. They literally ignored their mentally ill son and now they want money. They never cared about their child only the pay day after
@
The manufacturer should appeal all the way to the SCOTUS.
@
US is the largest open air mental asylum.
@
That lawyer just got 40 million off that case 😮
@
Every single person involved in its legal process needs to be kicked out of the legal system
@
Hold on, wait. What????

I agree, Sofia; the financial penalty is huge, but it doesn't change the accessibility. Do you think stricter regulations on the parts themselves would be more effective than these lawsuits?

This is such a heavy watch. It’s heartbreaking how these kits make things so accessible and dangerous. A $100M ruling feels like a start, but does it actually do enough to stop this from happening again? What do you all think?
