BIMSTEC is a regional organization that connects South Asia (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka) and Southeast Asia (Myanmar, Thailand) via the Bay of Bengal. It was formed in 1997 to foster technical and economic cooperation.
