The announcement is designed to get the public to drop their guard against Digital ID. While carrying on with the digitisation of services. All of which is a precursor to Digital ID by the back door. The final nudge would be, to make things easier, all information will be held in one place, and voila, Digital ID by the back door. As all our information will already be online, we won't be able to resist the final move.
Sounds great. However, I trust this guy to keep his word about as much as I trusted the last one. Don’t let your guard down. Digital ID by the back door
About time! I can't stand the thought of more of my personal data being stored online where it can be leaked or hacked. We've already got enough to worry about with the cost of living without adding government surveillance to the mix. Glad to see some common sense prevailing here.

About time. I'm not keen on more government tracking while I'm just trying to get to work. Good move by Burnham to bin it early.

Hi everyone! It's wild to see such a major pivot on digital IDs right out of the gate. Definitely feels like a huge shift in priorities for the new leadership. Do you think scrapping this is the right move for privacy, or is it a step backward for efficiency?
