Tiger sharks actually seem laconic and slow as they approach, but when it approaches a human with bad intentions, it WILL start eating you. Tiger sharks approach people slowly because they don't have to rush for anyone or anything. As a long time surfer on the east coast of Florida, I feared tigers and bulls most of all. That said, surfing one evening at dusk about 36 years ago, I went to paddle over a soon-to-break wave and, looking down into the trough behind this wave was a White shark, it's head sticking out of the water ( actually, only White sharks "spy hop") , waiting, presumably, for me to slide right down into his open maw. Luckily, after spastically waving my arms in the water, I was thrown backwards "over the falls";and managed to catch a small wave on my stomach and ride it in to safety. The absolute most frightening experience of my life. Ugh
