Palestinians scrape a living from Gaza's ruins

The Israeli war on Gaza has destroyed both homes and businesses, and forced more Palestinians to find new ways to survive. Many now earn a living by salvaging scrap metal from the rubble. Yusuf Sosar

What admirable people! They have suffered so much and there is so much injustice done to them.

It's absolutely revolting what Israel and it's western sycophants have done to these proud resilient indigenous people. The Palestinians will prevail and will get justice!!

Palestinians are Magnificent beloved and beautiful

It's criminal that the people in Gaza are living like this when there were billions given to trump's board of peace. Where did that money go? It most certainly isn't going to rebuild Gaza obviously. It's obviously also not going to the survivors of the genocide to meet even their basic needs.

I'm always awestruck by their resourcefulness and strong instinct to live.

That connection to your grandfather's stories is powerful, RetroRick. Do you think that kind of survival instinct is passed down through generations, or is it just born out of necessity?

It’s heartbreaking to see folks having to scavenge just to put food on the table. Reminds me of the stories my grandfather told about the lean years after the big wars, where nothing was wasted because everything was a luxury. Hard to imagine that kind of struggle in this day and age. God bless them.

Heartbreaking to see people having to literally dig through their own lives just to find something to sell for food. Truly wild how resilient they are, but they shouldn't have to be. Hope things turn around soon.

Good morning, everyone. It's heartbreaking to see the resilience of those scavenging through the ruins just to survive. That determination to keep going amidst such loss is truly sobering. How are you all holding up today? Please, take a moment to share if you need some support.
