They had 12% possession after they scored up until Argentina scored their second goal and his thought was to replace any kind of attacking potential by taking off two attacking players for defenders before only realising he got it wrong after the second goal went in and trying to change it.
This will go down as one of the worst tactical decisions in world cup history.
Tuchel employed the kind of defensive football that might only make sense when trying to see out a game against a team with a dreadful attack, yet he chose to use it against Argentina. Not long after England dropped into that defensive setup, the goalkeeper had to make two crucial saves to prevent clear-cut chances. At that point, Tuchel should have realized that the approach was not working and changed the tactics. Instead, as though he were desperate to remind everyone why he was sacked by Bayern Munich, he stubbornly refused to correct his mistake. England then conceded an equalizer and eventually the winning goal. He should be sacked.
As soon as Gordon came off the writing was on the wall. Sink deep. Defend the 18 yard box. Passive. It was so annoying because I thought we had them. We could've had a second.
I don't mind losing against Argentina. What hurts id the way we lost. All the blood sweat and tears to get this far then go and invite pressure and go out with our tails between our legs. Gutted. We're 3 lions not 3 kittens
Losing by defending is worst than losing by attacking
