Vietnam's thousand-year struggle for independence reveals a nation forged by resilience. From throwing off Chinese dominance to resisting French colonialism, Vietnamese history demonstrates an extraordinary spirit that refuses subjugation. What's remarkable isn't just military victories—it's how Vietnamese culture, language, and identity survived millennia of foreign pressure intact. The Vietnamese people proved that true strength lies in preserving one's soul while standing against the world's greatest powers. This indomitable will continues to define Vietnam today.
The Vietnam War was not just a conflict between two sides — it was a tragic story of ideology, resilience, and human suffering. Respect to everyone who lived through this period.
The Famous General Matthew Ridgeway warned Eisenhower and other presidents not to go into Vietnam in the 50s. No troops. He stated the Vietnam landscape was not like Korea. The battles would be different.
The Presidents didnt heed his warnings.
This documentary seems to have been well researched. I love the pristine presentation, the objectivity, with no sides taken, just the plain truth of the historical facts, the presentation and the narration. No annoying unnecessary background music, no trotting out of hundreds of experts, booksellers and historians. I watched it three times and will again. This is how a documentary should be done.
Respect for the hero’s who fought and never give up on their beautiful Vietnam , 🇺🇸 government fought too long to divided I’m so glad the people of Vietnam didn’t not give up, I’m watching this from Dan nang Vietnam ❤❤
I'm going to be 70 next month, I remember Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, and being told about Korea, there's also incursions in Carribean and central American countries, covert support for various African conflicts. Many years ago, I spent some time in Fayetteville North Carolina with fort Brag a city saturated by the military and learned that it is absolutely criminal, repeat criminal, the way the USA treats its veterans. I, for one, with a degree in Political Science and even a background in political activism, and damn sick of war!
I salute the Vietnamese for their sheer tenacity in claiming their land from foreign territorial invasion or military aggression. I also have a new found respect for a Mr Ho Chi Minh for his sheer determination to unite the Vietnamese people as One Nation and succeeded in his life time in doing that.
In 2023, Vietnam's nominal GDP was $429.72 billion. I wish the country and people of Vietnam - continued progress and success.
"Calling it the ‘Vietnam War’ misses the point — it was a century-long struggle for sovereignty. From French colonization to American intervention, Vietnam was never just a battlefield. It was a proving ground for empires, and a graveyard for their ambitions."

Many "people from the West" still feel uncomfortable dealing with the issue of the Vietnam War......
