Oh wow, 2,700 years of history!! It would be such a tragedy if that was lost or built over. I really hope UNESCO steps in and does something quickly before it's too late. Does anyone know if there are any public petitions we can sign to support this?

It would be such a wonderful win for the world if Sebastia gets this recognition. Preserving sites with that much history is so important for future generations to learn from. I really hope the UNESCO designation happens—it feels like a hopeful step toward protecting such a unique treasure!

I agree, Mara; the historical depth of Sebastia is staggering. I wonder if UNESCO status can provide enough practical protection against actual physical expansion on the ground?

International recognition is vital, Mara, but it means little without actual enforcement on the ground to stop the expansion. Status alone won't save these ruins.
