The influence of Russian disinformation, the future of Czech radio and TV, short-term lets and housing, and how to improve life for people outside the big cities.
Make believe as fast as it can with all the data made off with now. Autocratic witchcraft would-be criminal enterprise and the tyranny they would be chocking on.
It´s not worse than the desinformation from washington, brussels, berlin, paris...
You get propaganda from all sides, and have to filter it by yourself.
Please look at Vienna. State should make large investment into public housing. Current wages are insufficient for families to exist as thriving unit to support economy. Forget Prague it is beyond saving but ouskirts can be saved. Goverment is so corrupt thanks to kick backs getting from large developers building unaffordable housing. What about goverment building new apartments for non-profit zero sum gain.
Babiš isn’t a businessman; he’s an oligarch—practically a mafioso with a legal business. And, of course, he’s only prime minister so he can steal as much as possible. Unfortunately, 50% of the people here vote for him and others like him, who make no secret of the fact that they’re entering politics solely for personal gain and couldn’t care less about the prosperity of the country.
The thing with propaganda and disinformation is that it only works well when people already want to believe what it says. When Nazi Germany constantly told people (after their crushing defeat in 1918) that they were the "master race" and deserved to run the world, that was exactly what those people wanted to hear, and that propaganda was devastatingly effective. OTOH, when Soviet Russia bombarded everyone 24/7 with propaganda about the "worker's paradise" and "socialist utopia", nobody gave a shit about it, and when the USSR collapsed nobody lifted a finger to defend it. The same is true today.
Oh yes, deregulating building so the rich developers can line their pockets even more. Thank you dear politicians for not even acknowledging that the short term rentals problem is not just with AirBnBs, it’s the practice of chaining 1-year contracts (or shorter) to people who live and work in Czech Republic, and who live with the constant feeling of uncertainty and the question “how much is the owner gonna spike the rent next time around?” The previous government did NOTHING about it and the fascist populists who are in now are certainty not gonna help either. Look at the richest people in Czech Republic and see how many of them run real estate/development companies.
It's 100% happening! I know people around me with rooms transformed into spaces for shilling Russian propaganda. Problem is, this is not treated as treason!
