The 2026 World Cup has finally come to a close, as Rodri, Lamine Yamal & Spain defeated Lionel Messi & Argentina 1-0 in extra time, and that has our crew taking a look ahead to the 2030 World Cup, whi
Thr third place teams advancing was amazing. To see Senegal score 5 goals to get there was incredible. At the last world cup they would have been in a meaningless game.
128 teams every 3 years. 4 years is waaayyyy too long to keep non football fans interested. 128 teams top 2 of each group of 4 reach round of 64. Then 32, 16, 8, 4, 2. Also slow down the tournament and play 2 games a day so people can actually enjoy watching all the games. Also will give teams a chance to recover between matches and some maybe go home or play a club match in between if they like.
This is problematic because average teams with little squad depth find themselves in even greater difficulty. While they previously needed to pull off one or two upsets to reach the semi-finals, now they have to pull off one more.
64 teams would be a complete disaster. 48 team already ruined the quality of the game and the unfairness between teams: how can you compare the KO side of Spain with the one for Argentina (Cape Verde, Austria and Switzerland!!!)? This was due to the fact that they took 3rd-place teams in the KO round and the huge level discrepancies among the groups. Please let's go back to 32, please!
It’s pretty much official that it will be 64 teams. After the success of this World Cup I don’t see it not happening. I’m happy that it will make it easier for some European teams because it’s very difficult to qualify through there, teams like Hungary, Italy, Serbia, Wales, Poland etc I think can all compete at the World Cup given the chance.
Nico is talking nonsense. If Africa had 5 spots like before Cape Verde & Congo dont qualify. Africa could have sent at least 4 more teams with no dilution. Nigeria, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Gabon
Almost lost a France along the way? When was that??This Argentine commentator is just as smart as all the Argentine players combined, which isn't high.
FIFA just wants more money otherwise there is no reason for this
