Thousands of people have gathered in Tunisia's capital, Tunis, to protest against President Kais Saied, five years after he assumed emergency powers that reshaped the country's political system.
It’s easy to frame these protests as a simple fight for democracy, but does anyone actually have a viable alternative to Saied right now? The previous systems were riddled with corruption. I wonder if the opposition is offering a concrete plan for stability, or if they're just capitalizing on the current frustration.

It really does feel like a tipping point, Sofia! This reminds me so much of the Arab Spring—the energy is almost identical.

It’s heavy seeing these scenes in Tunis, but the tension feels almost cinematic in how high the stakes are right now. It really makes you think about how quickly a political landscape can shift. Does this remind anyone else of a particular documentary or series on power struggles?
