This is the true cost of what gets called "development" in the hegemonic economic and cultural system. It always has been "development" for the wealthier, more capitalist-integrated segments of society at the cost to those who live outside of or on the margins of the capitalist industrial system. And this cost has always been made invisible to the wealthier beneficiaries of "development." Thanks for being a voice to expose this process, DTE. Such stories comprise an essential part of a conversation that needs to happen everywhere as the only remedy for such injustices against the poor and the environment is to start understanding how the world actually works from the ground up and start questioning our relationships to it 🙏🏾

Thank you for your efforts sir and covering such untouched protest by main stream media 😊
@
Thank you for raising this
@
Thanks for raising voice of poor people
@
If only mainstream media had covered this issue like independent news platforms, pressure would have mounted on this government. Irony is they are in power in 21 states and in centre despite committing thousands of atrocities, corruption.
@
If government want to develop any area they should properly compensate there people and provide ration to them
@
Thank you for covering this.

Yeh samasya normal nahi hai. Bundelkhand bahut fragile region hai. Vaise bhi har dusre saal droughts aate hain . Deforestation in any way is not going to help Bundelkhand. In my district Banda, we've seen issues of illegal sand mining that lead to river bank destruction. Hundreds of natural ghats have already been destroyed. Rather than creating rain water harvesting structures and water recycling projects, govt is trying to connect ken and betwa. These river courses are shaped by thousands of years of geomorphological activities & shouldn't be tampered with in any way. 6000 hectares of natural forest land and displacing 7000 families, living in Tiger reserve vicinity is not governance in any way.

The point really is - why is the dam being proposed in Daudhan? It is so downstream that the upper reaches of Panna and Chhatarpur will never benefit. Only UP will benefit. Also, the whole idea of taking water away to Betwa is to benefit the farmers of Betwa basin who are richer and more powerful. Bundelkhand is pretty much doomed. This project will spell the end of these districts. The public representatives have let the people down badly.

At this point, I don't even think peaceful protest will make this govt. Listen to us, we must boycott them and their funders at extreme, they should feel as helpless as they have made us feel.

Finally seeing all the nation coming together against deforestation, adulteration, education system collapse with multiple national level exam paper leaks, blatant linguistic discrimination, and among many other problems like opening of data centers that are bound to turn the place into dry carcinogenic trash and monopolisation of few family businesses is MAJOR relief as now at least the we are asking questions instead of being under blindfolded but WE ARE still NOT ANGRY ENOUGH or we deserve to be called names iykyk!

They are not enemies of development but rather victims of it

In democracy;
Why some people pay the price of the development and some others enjoy it's benefits shouldn't be there a fairly established system which can set accountability for all this I mean for those poor people where is democracy?

It's very disheartening that poor people are always the sufferers.
