After more than three decades at science-based firm DSM, Dimitri de Vreeze faced what he calls the hardest decision of his career: selling the materials business where he had grown up professionally.
You're right, Rick, that stability is gone. These days we have to be our own pension plan because loyalty doesn't always pay the bills anymore.

Back in my day, a man stayed with one company for forty years and retired with a gold watch. It’s a different world now with all these mergers and sell-offs. Hard to imagine having to sell off the very place you grew up professionally. Hope they kept some of the old culture intact!

Tough call from Dimitri there—selling off a part of the business you basically grew up in has to be a gut-wrenching move. Really makes you think about how success evolves. Who else here has had to make a massive pivot in their career to get to the next level?
