Worth remembering that all of Djokovic, Federer and Nadal got to play at least a few GS finals against the likes of Hewitt, Roddick, Thiem, Tsitsipas, Medvedev etc., while this is the only GS final Murray ever played that wasn't against either Djokovic or Federer. Pretty much everything Murray won he did the hard way.

Murray at the absolute zenith of his ability, he was the best in the world that year.

Successfully defended his Olympic crown and had dragged Great Britain to the Davis Cup 7 months earlier.

2016 was Murrayโ€™s year. A pleasure to have supported and watched him, one of our greatest ever Britons

I had a bet on that day for Murray to win Wimbledon, Lewis Hamilton to win the British Grand Prix and Portugal to win the Euros final. Unfortunately, it didn't come in, because Portugal had to win inside 90 minutes, not after extra time.
